You get what you give

“Please respect my lifestyle/culture/tradition/religion/impulse that has me eat meat.”

All right, no.

Lifestyles are not infallible. American lifestyle includes exercising less than we should.

Cultures are not infallible. My culture includes machismo.

Tradition is not infallible. Racism is tradition for some people.

Religion is not infallible. Obviously. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be ten thousand religions contradicting each other.

Impulse is not infallible. I’m not going to say anything for this one. Just think about the abuses that some people suffer.

None of those are okay. No one gets an easy way out of being conscious. Asking others to respect part of you that shows no respect for others is saying your wants are more important than others’ needs. That is a genuine lack of respect.

Guilt

I’ve been listening to Showbread, a Christian band, a lot lately. I’m not going to post lyrics, mostly because I don’t feel like looking them up.

I really like them. But the thing that annoys me about them is their most upfront quality: THIS IMMENSE FEELING OF GUILT.

They (or maybe just the lead singer) act like they personally nailed Jesus to the cross.

I don’t like religion. At all. This is one of the reasons. The religious in general, I have a message for you.

Chances are, you didn’t do anything wrong. You have nothing to feel guilty about. Stop asking for forgiveness. Do something nice for yourself. You deserve it. You are not inferior.

Got it?

MY MACBOOK PRO

Oh geez, I’m rambling on about punctuation marks when something actually important happened.

I got a MacBook Pro! I don’t know what to say about it besides “AWESOME!”

Everything is set up so nicely. Everything works. It’s great. I am having some issues though. Trackpads are hard, I keep accidentally clicking stuff in the dock, and it totally ate a CD. I don’t know what to do about the CD, but I gotta get it out.

“BUT YOU’RE NOT SO PRETTY WHEN YOU’RE DEAD.”

I cannot stop listening to Showbread. I downloaded another album, too. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I used to be a fan, but back in freshman year of high school. What’s happening?! I don’t know what exactly the problem is, either! They’re kind of cheesy and also Christian. That might be it. There’s a lot of guilt in their lyrics. Talking about personally nailing Jesus to the cross and letting him down. Cheer up, Josh Dies.

Pet stores are very sad. Remind me why they need to exist.

Oh, and I drove! I can’t drive! I almost died!
